Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown was born in Preston Lancashire, the son of a signwriter and schoolteacher, and has had a strong interest in music since early childhood. His ambitions have centered on guitar as well as writing and singing. From an early age his interests are have been highly focused on the blues and its related genres. His devotion to music has been lifelong and his passion for slide guitar has resulted in many outstanding recordings and performances throughout the world.

All of Kevin’s work is emotionally strong whether it be with a full rhythm section or as a solo artist His work is greatly admired by other artists and, although not a household name, Kevin often performs to sell out audiences many of whom follow his career with great interest. His fresh approach to slide playing and willingness to examine new ideas has resulted in recordings which often seem to have a Œtimeless’ nature to them as well as perpetually generating interest.

His career began with the release of ’Picking Good Tunes’ on his own ’Do Dah’ label in 1984. This came to the attention of Joe Boyd at Hannibal Records who released it in 1986 as ŒRoad Dreams. The follow up ŒRust put Kevin firmly on the map and was nominated for best blues album of the year by the British Blues Foundation

On the strength of these two releases Kevin signed a major deal with Chrysalis Records in 1994 and his major label debut ŒTime Marches On has since been hailed as a classic, and has had both a UK and European release through Taxim Records.

In 1998 Kevin released his first long awaited instrumental album ’Sunny Side Up’. This collection of self penned melodies firmly established Kevin as a leading light in the world of slide guitar artists.
